About Us
We first became interested in Newfoundlands several years back when I was searching for investment properties. One day I was looking at a multifamily house owned by an older gentleman. He lived on the second floor and I remember feeling sad for him because he’d shared the house with his son who’d died recently. When I entered the man’s apartment, I nearly tripped over an enormous black dog that seemed to fill up the entire living room. I had never seen such a dog before and, like many people, assumed it was a black Saint Bernard. I noticed that the dog was very devoted, as if he knew he had to take care of the man now that his son was gone. I didn’t buy the old man’s house, but knew by the time I left that someday I would own a Newfoundland.
A
few years later Diane and I were married and had settled in a suburban
neighborhood not far from where we live today. I had never forgotten the old
man’s dog, and now that we had the room, we began seriously researching the
Newfoundland breed and looking for a puppy. Instead, we found Amy, an adult
female who needed a new home.

Amy’s breeder introduced us to the world of showing, obedience and water work, and within a short time we were hooked. In 2001, we built our current home on four secluded acres in Newtown, Connecticut. We have a walkout basement with a kennel room and grooming area, and there is plenty of room for our newfs to run and play. We’re constantly striving to improve and increase our knowledge of the breed and recently established our own breeding program. For more information on our breeding program, click HERE.We are members of the Newfoundland Club of America (NCA) , Newfoundland Club of New England (NCNE) and Bear Mountain Newfoundland Club. Diane serves as executive secretary and board member of NCNE, while Gary serves on the NCA Constitution and Bylaws revision committee. Locally, we are active members of the Newtown Kennel Club.
